I have written extensively on women, politics, and popular culture for a number of anthologies and publications including The New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The Nation, Salon, & Dissent. Specific topics covered have included women’s health, economic security, reproductive rights, welfare, divorce, domestic violence, and maternity benefits, among many others.
I also regularly review books on a range of subjects for The San Francisco Chronicle, The Washington Post, and Kirkus. I am also proud to have been recently selected as a reviewer for The Women’s Review of Books.
I resumed publishing under my maiden name, Ashley Nelson, in the fall of 2012. Prior to that, I published under Ashley Sayeau.
